Who we are

About YOA

To champion and leave a legacy of orchestral music in our communities.

Fifty years of orchestral music in Yuma

The Yuma Orchestra Association began in 1976, when a handful of players and parents decided that a city this size deserved a real orchestra. Five decades later we still do it the same way: volunteers, patient teachers, and donors who show up year after year.

Today YOA presents a full season of concerts, runs a string instruction program for students of every age, and fields three performing ensembles — all as a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Ticket sales cover part of the cost; the rest is raised from the community we serve.

We serve Yuma and the surrounding tri-state area of Arizona, California, and Mexico's northern border. Our students and players cross all three.
